This book provides an up-to-date and comprehensive account of quasars and active galactic nuclei (AGN). The latest observations and theoretical models are combined in this clear, pedagogic textbook for advanced undergraduates and graduate students. Researchers will also find this wide-ranging and coherent review by: This review provides an overview of recent advances in multi-wavelength and multi-messenger observations of blazars, the current status of theoretical models for blazar emission, and prospects for future facilities. The discussion of observational results will focus on advances made possible through the Fermi Gamma-Ray Space Telescope and ground-based gamma-ray Cited by:

Permalink: Titel: Active Galactic Nuclei [electronic resource]: Proceedings of a Conference Held at the Georgia. The general aspects of AGN that emerges from almost 60 years of research have been summarized and discussed in a recent text book [1]. Here we want to raise the most prominent questions concerning the central engine, as we see them today. 2. The Central Engine At the center of the AGN we commonly believe that a super massive black hole is accreting.

Galaxy evolution is intimately related to supermassive black hole (SMBH) activity. Numerous studies have tried to identify the symbiotic relation of these two physical processes across the history of the Universe. Indeed, while SMBHs appear to be ubiquitous in galaxies, only ~1% present signs of activity (seen in optical, infrared or X-rays).   Title: A Multi-Wavelength Analysis of Annihilating Dark Matter as the Origin of the Gamma-Ray Emission from M31 Authors: Alex McDaniel, Tesla Jeltema, Stefano Profumo (Submitted on 14 Feb (v1), last revised 11 May (this version, v2))Cited by: 6.

We present a sample of candidate quasars selected using the KX-technique. The data cover deg(2) of the X-ray Multi-Mirror (XMM) Large-Scale Structure (LSS) survey area where overlapping multi-wavelength imaging data permits an investigation of the physical nature of selected sources.

Methods. The KX method identifies quasars on the basis of their. • Using multi-wavelength data on individual Ly. nebulae reveals a more complete picture of the CGM in dense regions: • Environment — census of nearby galaxies (& AGN) • Kinematics — map out how the gas is moving • Physical conditions — metallicity, density, source of ionization multiple emission lines, emission line diagnostics.
